Doomsday: A Short Comic

Doomsday: A Short Comic

“Doomsday”, a short comic inspired by Doctor Who and illustrated by Fox & Fiver, which has been two whole months in the making, is finally here!!

No proper blog post this month - I sincerely apologise to those of you who enjoy reading through my rambles… if there are any of you, haha…

However, fret not, for I have finally finished illustrating my latest short comic and I’m beyond excited to share it with you!

Please scroll down to read the comic - I hope you enjoy it!

Illustrator’s Notes:

We all know by now that “trail hunting” is a smokescreen for real hunting - and it needs to end. Maybe we don’t actually have Daleks to deal with hunters for us… but we do have our own voices, and the more we use them to speak up on behalf of those who can’t, the more we put pressure on the government to commit to their pledge, the more chance we have of putting a stop to it for good, thereby giving wildlife enhanced protection and the right to live peacefully as they deserve.

Some notes about the comic:

  • The hunter’s dialogue is inspired by actual things pro-hunters have been saying as their argument against the proposed ban (yes, it felt incredibly uncomfortable to write said dialogue).
  • The majority of the Dalek’s dialogue is inspired by an argument between the Daleks and Cybermen in the Doctor Who episode “Doomsday”, though some of the dialogue has been tweaked and/or expanded on for relevance to the topic.
  • While the plot of this comic is silly and beyond unrealistic, the meaning behind it is so incredibly important and very real. Only a few days ago were the ‘Cottesmore Hunt’ spotted pursuing foxes, amongst breaking other laws and trespassing on protected wildlife conservation land. Therefore, despite the Hunting Act coming into force in 2004, the themes of this comic are still relevant to this day.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read through this short comic, all and any support is indescribably appreciated - both for me as an illustrator (who spent many long hours on this project) and for this incredibly important topic, which I’m hugely passionate about… a topic which needs to be urgently addressed, shared, and shouted about until no more wildlife comes to harm at the hands of these red-coated tyrants.

If you’re feeling extra supportive, I would be hugely grateful if you could like, comment, save, share, and repost this comic on my social media pages! The more engagement my post gets, the more this important message is spread, and the more awareness brought to people’s attention. Thank you!

Enjoyed the short comic, want to show your support for the foxes, and support me as an illustrator? Why not purchase one of my fox themed button badges? They make great accessories, and are bold & clear when it comes to expressing your views on hunting.
